I hand sculpt figures and forms that connect to my identity and self expression. As a young queer woman, I feel powerful creating work that reflect me and people like me. I find working with my hands in a sculptural form feels more intimate, and makes the audience want to get up and circle the form looking at the glaze detail or the shape. I draw in attention from anyone of all different ways of life and show the beauty of queerness through the figures.

I grew up in a conservative household with my single father. Self expression was difficult during these times, and often made me feel as if I had to hide such a big part of my self. Coming out of that situation I find that I want nothing more than to explore and express my ideas and views with the world. I want to show people the beauty I see in my family, friends, and neighbors. I enjoy doing research of past queer and feminist figures, often taking inspiration from their stories, and reimagining them in present time. Making art like this is very personal to me and makes me passionate about having others seeing it and putting themselves in someone else's shoes.
